Turn of the Leaves is an adventure written for the tabletop roleplaying game Cairn and its 2023 game jam A Town, a Forest, a Dungeon.

A hermit comes to the town of Idille to warn the villagers. He sketches how the settlers of Idille were sent by Lady Loreen, and how she and the first settlers slowly turned fae.
Although the curse has been broken in a past age, the forest stirs again to curse Idille. The hermit asks you to follow him to Lady Loreen and to make sure the people of Idille stay human.

The adventure is build around a lot of optional monologues in rhyme. If you don't like that, you can just leave those out.
The adventure is linear, resembling a play. I added a random encounter table in Monsters of the Forest, but for those you'll have to make your own monologues. It does give some more monsters and things to find though.

version 1.1 fixes a spelling mistake, lack of italics in one verse and some interpunction.

I'd highly recommend this one for the format alone. On top of that, the story is interesting, and the encounters are well-designed for Cairn, mixing danger with non-combat solutions for careful players.
